The name "SAFRAFRA" is borrowed from the West African Akan language means something like: dance the colorful mixture.

Safrafra was founded by former members of various African bands who, for individual reasons, ended up in Germany and finally in Kiel in the north. It was clear to everyone that they would not be able to continue the successful musical careers of their home countries and so the musicians left after their move and continue to pursue other professional activities that hardly offer them nationwide or even allow Europe-wide tours. With exceptions (e.g. festivals) they can usually only perform on weekends. But this also takes away the enormous pressure that musicians are generally exposed to to have to play all the time and so they can fully devote themselves to the joy of making music in front of an audience, which they quickly notice in a positive way.

Essentially, Safrafra is a reggae band that, in addition to well-known pieces, primarily performs treasures of Jamaican roots reggae and other varieties known to insiders, which makes you quickly forget that it is actually essentially a cover band, if you think so knew. Apparently this is most likely to happen when Safrafa, in keeping with their band name, sometimes dress up pieces by John Lennon, ABBA or other world stars in their own unique, danceable reggae garb. They also braid Afro-rock and West African styles depending on their mood and mood Highlife, Calypso and Afro-Jazz into their atmospheric performances. Safrafra - dance the colorful mix!
